Sealey joined Coventry City as an apprentice in 1976 and made his debut as a 19-year-old on 11 April 1977, in a 1–1 draw at Queens Park Rangers.

The return of Les Sealey (who had been at United for 18 months until the end of the 1990–91 season) in January 1993 meant that Walsh was now third choice goalkeeper, and the following season he was transfer-listed.
