At The Lab at Belmar, Lerner curated solo exhibitions of Liam Gillick and Issac Julien as well as such non-traditional exhibitions as The Astounding Problem of Andrew Novick, featuring the obsessive collections of a former punk rock singer turned electrical engineer.

During the past three years, the journal published 36 issues containing more than 250 essays by writers such as Hito Steyerl, Martha Rosler, Liam Gillick, Boris Groys, Franco Berardi (Bifo), Jalal Toufic, Slavoj Žižek, Diedrich Diedrichsen, Raqs Media Collective and numerous other contributors.
Artists whose work has been published by Book Works include Tacita Dean, Jeremy Deller, Simon Faithfull, Liam Gillick, Ahmet Ögüt, Cornelia Parker, Martin John Callanan, NaoKo TakaHashi, Sam Taylor-Wood and Mark Titchner.
Alongside group exhibitions that have featured artists and organisations such as Art & Language, Mel Bochner and Grizedale Arts, past solo shows include Liam Gillick, Shezad Dawood, Carey Young, William Pope.L and Dan Graham.
He curated several one-person exhibitions, including Kai Althoff, Gerard Byrne, Olafur Eliasson, Brian Jungen, Isa Genzken, Liam Gillick, Billy Apple, Mathias Poledna, Stephen Prina and Cerith Wyn Evans.
