Ivan Shaw left Europa to develop the Europa-derivative Liberty XL2 production aircraft at a new company, Liberty Aerospace, in Melbourne, Florida, United States.
The company produces one model, the Liberty XL2, an advanced two-seat touring aircraft based on the British-designed Europa homebuilt airplane.

The basic design was later developed by Ivan Shaw into a United States FAR certified aircraft, built by Liberty Aerospace in the USA as the Liberty XL2.
In July 2009 Liberty Aerospace unveiled a version of their XL2 2-seat aircraft powered by Wilksch turbo-diesel, aimed at the non-North American market.
LIFT purchased its first fleet of six Liberty XL2 flight training aircraft from Liberty Aerospace Corporation in Melbourne, Florida, in 2010 and shipped them to Johor Baru to be later ferried to Lombok.
