The league comprises the teams ranked second through eighth of the 2010–11 season, the relegated side from the 2010–11 Premier League (Hamilton Academical), the 2010–11 Second Division champions, and the winners of the 2010–11 First Division play-off (Livingston and Ayr United respectively).
He was one of three Caley Thistle players that joined Livingston in one season in 2001, the others being Barry Wilson and Davide Xausa.
Ross made his first senior appearance in professional football in February 2000 and has played for 10 different clubs: Rangers, Sheffield Wednesday, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Millwall, Viking, Kocaelispor, Aberdeen, Beijing Guoan, Motherwell and Livingston.
He transferred to Livingston in 2002 in a season where they finished third in the SPL, and spent a brief period on loan at Cowdenbeath.
