In 1596, Jaljulia was part of the Ottoman Empire, nahiya (subdistrict) of Banu Sa´b under the Liwa of Nablus, with a population of 100 households ("Khana").
The area around Sohar, including Saham and Liwa, has a population of approximately 300,000 and is expanding rapidly, largely due to the very recent establishment of the Sohar Industrial Port Company (SIPC).

Al-Hamma appeared in Ottoman tax registers compiled in 1596 under the name of Hammat Jur, in the Nahiyas of Gawr, of the Liwa Ajloun.
The principal road is E15, which connects the town with the E11 near Ruwais in the North and Aradah in the Liwa Oasis in the South.
It is during the rule of the Ottoman Empire over Palestine that the form Kafr ʿInān (Kafr 'Anan) first appears. The village is listed in 1596, as forming part of the nahiya (subdistrict) of Jira under the Liwa of Safad, with a population of 259.
