The band's name is linked with New Orleans, as Bucktown was a Chicago neighborhood, but also the name of the settlement that grew up on the shore of Lake Ponchartrain after the close of Storyville.
The band was started in May 2007 by Adam Krier and Jason Schultejann of Lucky Boys Confusion and Chris Smith (Logan Square/15 Minutes Late).
In order to keep the building from being turned into condominiums, the Logan Square Neighborhood Association (LSNA), a grass-roots community organization, organized neighbors, veteran Cooper workers, and the U.S. Green Building Council to form the Cooper Lamps Task Force.
The building's name is a nod to its neighborhood, Logan Square, so named for the nearby Logan Circle, one of William Penn's original five squares of Philadelphia.
