From this point on, the great families, like the Athen, fade into view to be replaced by the Repubbliche Marinare of northern Italy (Genoa and Pisa) in the power politics of Logudoro.

In 1211, Comita III of Torres confirmed a treaty with the Republic of Genoa, Pisa's traditional rival for Sardinian influence, whereby the two powers — Logudoro and Genoa — would jointly conquer the entire island and put it under Genoese suzerainty with Comita as judge.
The name refers to the area of Logudoro (term originated as corrupt blending of the kingdom's name of Logu de Torres) in which it is spoken, a northern subregion of the island of Sardinia with close ties to Ozieri (Othieri) and Nuoro (Nùgoro) for culture and language, as well as history, with important particularities in the western area, where the most important town is Ittiri.
Around 1128, Gonario II, Constantine's son, the child ruler of Logudoro, was brought to Porto Torres by his regent, Ittocorre Gambella, after an attempt to harm the child had been made by the Athen family.
