Acteonellidae is an extinct family of gastropods in the informal group Lower Heterobranchia (according to the taxonomy of the Gastropoda by Bouchet & Rocroi, 2005).
Currently Heterobranchia comprises three informal groups: the Lower Heterobranchia, the Opisthobranchia and the Pulmonata, also known as the lower heterobranchs, the opisthobranchs and the pulmonates.
Heteroneritidae has been classified in the Pyramidelloidea within the informal group Lower Heterobranchia in the taxonomy of Bouchet & Rocroi (2005).
