Kenny Mwape

Mwape was born in Luanshya and he started out in Roan United's youth team in 1970, following in the footsteps of his elder brother Emmanuel Mwape who was the first choice goalkeeper at Roan and the national team.


Chizongwe Secondary School

Between 1966 and 1980 it was amongst the top five secondary schools in Zambia together with Munali (Lusaka), Linda High School (Livingstone), David Kaunda (Lusaka) and Luanshya Boys (Luanshya) and is till these days considered a school of excellence.

Ghost Mulenga

Mulenga was born in Luanshya in 1954 and first played for a Second Division side Buseko FC where he was noticed by Boniface Simutowe and lured to Arrows in April 1975.

Greeks in Zambia

Most are concentrated in the capital Lusaka, while there are smaller enclaves in Luanshya and Kitwe.

Kenny Mwape

Mwape stayed at Roan for two seasons but due to limited first-team opportunities, he was loaned to Division II side Luanshya Blue Devils in 1972 but left the following year to join Mufulira Blackpool where he stayed for a season before moving to City of Lusaka.

Northern Rhodesia Mine Workers' Union

The union established branches at Broken Hill, Roan Antelope, Mufulira, Nkana and Nchanga, however it struggled to recruit members, and by 1939 membership had fallen to 1,000 out of 2,500 eligible European mineworkers.
