The crags, which are owned by the National Trust, are the only location in England of Viscaria alpina, the red alpine catchfly.

Adults have been recorded feeding on the nectar of Eupatorium cannabinum, Lychnis and Silene species.
The larvae feed on various herbaceous plants, such as Hedera helix, Lychnis, Urtica, Symphytum officinale and Lamiaceae.
