8 unusual facts about Macross

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon

Macross creator Shouji Kawamori designed a fictional plane for the game, known as the "ASF-X Shinden II", which was released on October 25, 2011 and is currently being offered as downloadable content.

Another Century's Episode 2

Some combinations of characters (such as the major characters from Macross and Endless Waltz) get new combinations.

Macross: Do You Remember Love?

During the latest assault, Valkyrie pilot Hikaru Ichijyo rescues pop idol Lynn Minmay, but are both trapped in a section of the fortress for days.

The movie gets its name from its romantic themes and also by the song sung during its climactic battle sequence by Lynn Minmay (voiced by Mari Iijima).

Robert Woodhead, head of AnimEigo, has said publicly that he would like to release the film (AnimEigo released the first pressings of the Macross series in the US), but believes it will most likely never get a proper DVD release in the United States due to the legal disputes surrounding the film.

Exsedol Folmo's appearance here (as having a larger cerebrum, tendrils, and greenish appearance) would actually be worked into the Macross continuity.

Omega Boost

However, it is still considered one of the best Macross style mecha simulation games produced and is thought of by many as a sleeper hit due to its poor marketing.

The game also features a live action introduction and mecha designs by Shoji Kawamori of Macross fame.

Basara Nekki

He encountered an alcoholic ex-U.N. Spacy pilot, Ray Lovelock, and his talent and determination convinced Ray to form the rock band Fire Bomber with him.

Britai Kridanik

The fact that the humans possessed reaction weaponry (nuclear devices) — a technology the Zentradi have lost — and that the humans were "miclone" roused Britai's curiosity and made him pursue the Macross personally and relentlessly, even as his orders changed with every new revelation concerning the Humans.

Fang of the Sun Dougram

FASA was later sued by Playmates Toys and Harmony Gold USA for using designs from Macross (for example, Valkyrie fighters renamed Stinger, Wasp and Phoenix Hawk).

Gamlin Kizaki

A skilled pilot and protégé of the famous Zentradi ace Milia Fallyna Jenius, Gamlin's skills were discovered early in his career, and he was made a member of Macross 7's elite squadron, Diamond Force, piloting a VF-17 Nightmare.

Haydonites

At the end of the Third Robotech War, the Haydonites, known to the Invid as the Children of the Shadow, betrayed their allies and attempted to destroy all races that used Protoculture as a power source as seen in Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles.

Hiroshi Ōnogi

Ōnogi attended Keio University in the same years as Macross character designer Haruhiko Mikimoto and creator Shōji Kawamori, both of whom he would first collaborate with in The Super Dimension Fortress Macross.

Lisa Hayes

After a miscalculated fold maneuver transported the SDF-1 and Macross City past the orbit of Pluto, Lisa time and again saved the ship with her quick thinking and actions, as well as her continuous attention to detail and duty as First Officer.

Macross 7

The ruins are investigated by the non micronized Zentradi Exsedol Folmo, who is now the top science advisor in the Macross 7 fleet.

Macross Dynamite 7

During that time, Firebomber had held what was to be their largest, and final concert, before Basara Nekki left Macross 7 and the band behind, with his guitar as a constant companion, on a journey around the galaxy leaving behind nothing more than a letter for the band.

Macross Dynamite 7 contains some allegorical references to Moby-Dick.

Macross Zero

According to Tommy Yune of Harmony Gold USA (sub-licensor of the original Macross series and merchandising rights of The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love? outside of Japan), the company would have been "willing to let the deal go through" for a possible release by A.D. Vision.

New mechanical designs inspired by those of the first Macross series were developed by Shoji Kawamori and Junya Ishikagi, while mecha and sci-fi illustrator Hidetaka Tenjin worked as an animation artist for the CGI mecha action sequences.

Maximilian Jenius

Prior to the events of Macross 7, Max is appointed commander of the 7th Macross Fleet and captain of the flagship Battle 7, with a de-micronized Exsedol Folmo as his advisor.

Model robot

Other manufacturers, such as Hasegawa, Wave, and Kotobukiya, have in recent years offered products from other series, such as Macross, Votoms, Five Star Stories, Armored Core, Virtual-On, Zoids, and Maschinen Krieger, with results rivaling Bandai's best products.

Quamzin Kravshera

He was immediately dispatched to Mars in a plot to disable the Macross while she was landed and taking supplies from an abandoned U.N. Spacy base on the planet.
