They are; Center: Shiva, East: Isvara, West: Mahadeva, North: Vishnu, South: Brahma, Northeast: Sambhu, Northwest: Sangkara, Southeast: Mahesora, and Southwest: Rudra.
The idol in the temple is said to resemble three different Gods : Bhimeshwar in the morning, Mahadeva during the day and the Narayana in the evening.

It was jointly established on March 15th, 1972 by V. I. Subramonium (University of Kerala), R. C. Hiremath (Karnataka University) and Mahadeva Sastry (Sri Venkateswara University).
Subramanyam Mahadeva Iyer was nominated by his predecessor, Chandrashekarendra Saraswati Swamigal, as his successor and was given the title Jayendra Saraswathi on March 22, 1954.
