After staying some years in Gujrat, Rai jagdeva with some of his followers turned to north and in year 1151 Bikrami against 1094 AD, this small caravan settled at about 2 miles north-east of Akhnoor, which was then known as Wrat Nagari at a place Amba Rann, Rai Jagdeva was worshipper of Mata Amba and Rai was his dynasty which till now Rajas of Dhara state Maharajas and other Pawar Rajas use it.
The erstwhile maharajas of Mysore frequently visited this temple to get the blessings of Kolaramma.
So Kottaram means not only a village but also a Palace because 18th & the beginning of the 19th century Kottaram village was ruled by Travancore Maharajas and they have constructed Gust Houses for them.
The magnificent wall erected by the Maharajas of Rahaver, are one of the most lasting remains of Rahaver architecture, and inside you find the Ajitnath temple, dated to 1165 AD, which is the crown jewel of Tarangagadh State.

The temple complex also houses the Shri Bhavani Museum established from the private collection of the Maharajas of Aundh The museum holds paintings by noted 19th and 20th century artists such as M. V. Dhurandhar, Baburao Painter, Madhav Satwalekar and Raja Ravi Varma as well as the famous "Mother and Child" stone structure by British artist, Henry Moore.
