Hamill has guided 72 expeditions to altitudes exceeding 18,000 vertical feet, including 5 on Mt. The following year, he returned to Nepal and reached the summit of Ama Dablam (6,856 m) and in 1997, he stood on top of his first eight-thousander – Manaslu (8,163 m).
A plaque now lays in memory of her just above the town of Bandipur on a small hill facing Manaslu.
