Manasseh Sogavare, leader of the People's Progressive Party, was chosen Prime Minister by a loose coalition of parties.
Iduri supported Rini's successor to the premiership, Manasseh Sogavare, and was appointed Minister for National Unity, Reconciliation and Peace in Sogavare's Cabinet - thus becoming the Minister in charge of facilitating national reconciliation in the aftermath of the ethnic conflicts of the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Opposition parties united in a coalition and succeeded in having Manasseh Sogavare, of the Solomon Islands Social Credit Party, elected Prime Minister on 4 May.
