The inventor of this system is said to have been one Peter Morrys, a Dutchman, and his system was adopted not only in King's Lynn, but also in Hull and other large towns and London where several of the wooden pipes were dug up in the area of Marble Arch, elm being the favourite wood as it was more capable of standing up to conditions and pressure than cheaper timbers.
In the Trinity term of 1952, Ambrose and another Oxford driver, David Hamilton, approached the Proctors for permission to reactivate the University's Motor Drivers' Club, which had been banned before Ambrose started at Oxford for organising a race on public roads between Oxford and Marble Arch in London.

The triathlon starts with an 87 mile run (140km) from London's Marble Arch to Dover on the Kent coast, then a cross-channel swim (shortest distance 21 miles/33,8km) to the French coast, and finishes with a 180 mile (289,7km) bike from Calais to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
The track was recorded at Pye Recording Studios in Marble Arch in a session whose personnel included guitarists Big Jim Sullivan and Vic Flick.
All four tracks were not available on another official Pye release in the UK, however three of the tracks (excluding "Such a Shame") were included on the budget Marble Arch compilation LP Well Respected Kinks in 1966 and "Such a Shame" appeared on that LP's follow up Sunny Afternoon in 1967.

The Sandie Shaw Supplement was a television show hosted by 1960s British singer Sandie Shaw in 1968 and also the name of her fourth original album released in November of that year by Pye Records and re-issued shortly afterwards on the Marble Arch label.
In 2001, the caves and the nearby Cuilcagh Mountain Park joined to become a European Geopark under the name Marble Arch Caves European Geopark, the first park in the UK to be recognised by the European Geoparks Network (EGN).
Mann is the granddaughter of the former Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi of the State of Israel, Isser Yehuda Unterman, and the daughter of Morris Unterman, rabbi of the West End Marble Arch synagogue in London.
