He served as Executive Officer of 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, until September 1951, when he was released to inactive duty and, shortly thereafter, resigned his commission in the Marine Corps.
Returning from overseas in 1961, he reported to the 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina for duty as Weapons Platoon Commander, 81mm Mortar Platoon Commander, Company Executive officer and Company Commander in the 1st Battalion, 6th Marines.
Following his graduation from the Armed Forces Staff College in 1968, he commanded the 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
After graduating from the Marine Corps Command and Staff College in 1985, Major Huly reported to 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he made deployments overseas as an executive officer for battalion and regimental landing teams; and subsequently as Commanding Officer for Battalion Landing Team 1/8.
Upon completion of recruit training, Pvt Smedley served as a rifleman and fire team leader with Companies D and C, respectively, 1st Battalion, 8th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune.
Lawrence Livingston was born on November 5, 1940, in Defiance, Ohio, he attended Defiance College prior to enlisting in the Marine Corps in 1960 and was initially assigned to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
From July 1977 to June 1979, he served in the 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, as the S-3 Officer for the 1st Battalion, 10th Marines.
In December 1949, after several months at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, with the 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, he was assigned with that battalion to duty with the Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean.
Returning to the Fleet Marine Force in 1977, Capt. Higgins was assigned to the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he again served as a rifle company commander with A Company, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines.
