During the Second World War, Marjan was the subject of a popular Partisan song "Marjane, Marjane", sung by the Split (and Dalmatian) members of that anti-fascist movement and was reportedly a favorite song of resistance leader and future president of the new SFR Yugoslavia, Josip Broz Tito.
Darko Rundek has written and produced much film music, and has occasionally appeared as an actor (Doctor Kljaić in A View from Eiffel Tower, by N. Vukčević; Karlo in 100 minuta Slave, by D. Matanić; Youngster in The Eagle (Orao), by Z. Tadić, Marjan film).
Their later work included composition and sound design on director Marjan Tehrani's Arusi: Persian Wedding (PBS, 2009) and a complete sound design for Benson Lee's Planet B-Boy, which aired on MTV in January 2009.
Manoto1 is partly funded by corporate sponsorships and has been sponsored in the past by companies that sell consumer products inside Iran, including Samsung and LG, according to Marjan TV's website and Clarus Design's Meddin.
Contemporary artists who have been linked to the term, or who have been included in shows employing it, include Jerry Brown, David Burdeny, Catharine Burgess, Marjan Eggermont, Paul Kuhn, Eve Leader, Tanya Rusnak, Daniel Ong, Laurel Smith, Christopher Willard, and Tim Zuck.
Block continues to be a co-host of The D-Word, together with documentary makers Ben Kempas in Munich (from 2001), John Burgan in the United Kingdom (from 2005) and Marjan Safinia in Los Angeles (from 2009).
