Beginning that year, the Marone family, Turin industrialists, began to sell shares in the business, culminating in 1992 with an agreement to turn Cinzano International S.A. entirely over to International Distillers & Vintners, a wholly owned subsidiary of Grand Metropolitan.
His grandfather, Enrico, was named the 1st Count of Marone by King Victor Emmanuel III of Italy on May 13, 1940 to mark his marriage to the Infanta Maria Cristina de Borbon y Battenberg.
The current settlement dates to 1300, when it was rebuilt on the Monte Marone after its destruction in the course of the Sicilian Vespers war, as part of the county of Geraci.
She is also biological mother of Jack Hamilton Marone with Nick Marone.
In 1881 the German merchant Friedrich Albert Carl Spaeter (1835–1909) from Koblenz established magnesite works in Veitsch, Styria; followed by the Austro–American Magnesite Company at Radenthein, Carinthia in 1908 and Dolomite Franchi at Marone, Italy in 1919.
