He was handily defeated by Social Credit candidate John Dubetz finishing second ahead of Progressive Conservative candidate Martha Bielish in the three way race.
Dubetz defeated incumbent Liberal MLA Alfred Macyk who finished second and future Senator Martha Bielish, winning just under half of the popular vote to pick up the district for his party.
Bielish ran for a seat to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in the 1959 Alberta general election as a provincial Progressive Conservative candidate in the electoral district of Redwater.
