As a very fruitful author, Grisman issued albums with his own groups David Grisman Quintet and Old and in the Way, performed in various duo collaborations with Jerry Garcia, Andy Statman, Martin Taylor, John Sebastian, Tony Rice, played in psychedelic band Earth Opera with Peter Rowan, produced a number of solo records and cooperated with many other artists in different genres.
He's developed a playing style on the acoustic solo guitar which has been described as unique and which has been praised by guitarists like John McLaughlin, Martin Taylor and Michael Brook.
An internationally touring musician, he has recorded with Angelo Debarre and performed with Martin Taylor, The Rosenberg Trio, Paulus Schäfer, Richard Galliano but also celtic traditional musicians Frankie Gavin and Charlie McKerron.
