The 2008 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to former President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari "for his important efforts, on several continents and over more than three decades, to resolve international conflicts".

Free Aceh Movement

On 27 February 2005, the Free Aceh Movement and the delegation of the Indonesian government started another round of peace talks in Vantaa, Finland, moderated by former Finnish president Martti Ahtisaari.
