Aad Van Der Hoek founded the label in 1992 and has since been working closely with Jamaican producers and sound engineers, transferring usually the music directly from the original mastertape in Jamaica.
The first discs to appear would be those CD transfers which appeared in the 1990s; the remaining original analogue masters would subsequently be digitized and transferred to CD, making all of Lyrita's recordings available on CD for the first time.
The remixes of the The Family That Plays Together tracks (necessitated because the master mix was lost shortly after the album's release) are different from the 1996 re-release.
A cover of "Lonely Is the Night" is a playable track in the PlayStation 2 video game Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s and the master recording is playable in Guitar Hero 5.
The master recording is purchasable as part of the Rust in Peace album pack on the Rock Band band simulation platform, and is also playable in the Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock game.
