She married Mac McVicar, and in 1987 they established a herb farm - now known as Jekka's Herb Farm - at Alveston near Bristol.

He married Helen McVicar, veterinarian (born 1925 in Manly, NSW) in 1946 and they had five children, Deborah, Maggie Ferguson, Kate, John and Angus.
On 15 October 2012 it was announced that McGill's were to acquire the local bus services of Balloch based McColls Coaches for £3 million, with 30 buses joining the fleet.
