2 unusual facts about Mesa Arizona Temple

Mesa Arizona Temple

In a departure from the style of temples constructed prior, the Mesa temple (along with the temples in Laie and Cardston) was built in a style suggestive of the Temple in Jerusalem, lacking the spires that have become a mainstay of temples built since then, and was in fact the last LDS temple constructed without a spire.

The visitors' center also houses a replica of a statue of Jesus Christ by Danish artist Bertel Thorvaldsen called the Christus.

LeConte Stewart

He painted several murals for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) buildings, including works found inside the LDS temples in Hawaii, Alberta, and Arizona, as well as murals for the Salt Lake City International Airport and the historic Bigelow-Ben Lomond Hotel.

Octaviano Tenorio

In Mexico City he met Rosa Elva Valenzuela González, a native of Nuevo Casas Grandes, who he married in December 1973 in Colonia Dublán; they were sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple in January 1974, about one week after their marriage.
