The initiative was originally led by a non-profit called Deworm the World, with co-founder and president the development economist Michael Kremer.
In addition to his work at Innovations for Poverty Action, Kremer is a member of Giving What We Can, an international society for the promotion of poverty relief.
The Advance Market Commitment, proposed by Michael Kremer and colleagues, calls for creating a $3 billion market for neglected diseases with high burdens, such as malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV/AIDS.
