3 unusual facts about Milwaukee Mile


Gilbert Brown

Brown is currently a co-owner of the Milwaukee Mile, a racetrack that is often used for NASCAR races and at one time was the Packers' part-time home field.

Hogan Racing

Castroneves finished second at Gateway International Raceway and won the pole the following week at the Milwaukee Mile as the highlights of a season where he finished 15th in points.

Rick DeLorto

He attempted to race in two CART Championship Car races in the fall of 1982 (during their split with USAC) at the Milwaukee Mile and Road America but failed to make the field in both races.


Blake Bjorklund

Although he failed to qualify for the season-opening Daytona and Nashville races, he bounced back with poles at Berlin and Milwaukee and earned his first career victory at Salem Speedway, passing ARCA legend Frank Kimmel with two laps to go.

Chaparral Cars

Rutherford won five races that season, including the Indianapolis 500, along with the Datsun Twin 200 at Ontario Motor Speedway, the Red Roof Inn 150 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course; the Norton 200 at Michigan International Speedway, and the Tony Bettenhausen 200 at the Wisconsin State Fair Park Speedway.

The team would also get a 2nd place finish at the Miller Genuine Draft 200 at the Milwaukee Mile.

Joe Sostilio

In AAA competition, Sostilio won seven races between 1948 and 1950 at tracks all over the country: South Bend, Indiana, Milwaukee Mile, Akron, Ohio; Miami, Florida and Heidelberg, Pennsylvania.

Johnny Benson, Jr.

In addition, to date he joined a list of only 3 (now 4) drivers to ever win at least one championship in more than one of the three main title series (Bobby Labonte and Brad Keselowski are the other two, and they hace won championships in the Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series.) His first win of the season came at the Camping World RV Sales 200 at the Milwaukee Mile, the third consecutive race that Benson has won as Milwaukee Mile.

Juan Piedrahita

Piedrahita finished seventh in the championship, capturing two podium finishes at the series' two oval races at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis and the Milwaukee Mile.

Tony Kanaan

Kanaan had a fine 2007 season, winning a series-high five events by taking first place in Japan at Honda's Twin Ring Motegi track, the Milwaukee Mile, Michigan International Speedway, Kentucky Speedway, and the Detroit Grand Prix in Belle Isle.
