Army Hotel Management Institute (AHMI) was established on 3 June 2009 in Dhaka, Bangladesh which was inaugurated by then chief of army staff of Bangladesh army General Moeen Uddin Ahmed in Utshab Banquet Hall, Radisson Water Garden Hotel, Dhaka with the aim to meet the need of experts in tourism and hotel management sectors in home and to export abroad.
A former Principal Staff Officer of the Army of Bangladesh he was elevated to the position of Quartermaster General at the same time General Moeen U Ahmed, the Chief of the Army (and his coursemate) was made first serving 4 Star General in the history of Bangladesh.
Moeen assured Hussain Muhammad Ershad to make him the President and breached the agreement.

He served as the Chief of Army Staff during the 2006–08 Bangladeshi political crisis.
