The station is situated beside the Moonee Ponds Creek and surrounded mainly by factories and warehouses.
Recent habitat conservation work has resulted in some wildlife returning to the creek, including the Pobblebonk frog around the Strathmore Secondary College, and Nankeen Night Heron in the upper catchment.
A pedestrian underpass is situated at the Craigieburn end of the station and the railway crosses Moonee Ponds Creek a short distance beyond the station.
