Aonia

Aonia may have been a district of ancient Boeotia, a region of Greece containing the mountains Helicon and Cithaeron, and thus sacred to the Muses, whom Ovid calls the Aonides.

Helicon was the inspiration for the balls held by the Hungarian composer LeĆ³ Festetics at his castle near Keszthely.

On July 25, 1856, when a post office was established in present-day Sullivan, the local postmaster named the place "Mount Helicon".
