Ivan Semedi (1921–2008) was bishop of the Eparchy of Mukacheve from 1983 to 2002.
The station Batyovo, in fact, is situated at the intersection connecting such important cities of the region as Chop, Mukacheve, and Berehove.
In the 13th century the Halych Principality as part of the Ruthenian (Rus) Kingdom stretched from Peremyshl to Podolia, form Mukacheve to Terebovl, and from Busk to the Southern Bucovina.
In 1726, Emperor Charles VI granted Palanok Castle with Mukacheve, Chynadiyovo and 200 villages in the Kingdom of Hungary (today part of the Ukraine) to Elector Lothar Franz who had not only elected and crowned him, but had remained one of his most influential political supporters within the Empire.
