First Steps (German: Erste Schritte, Greek: Τα πρώτα βήματα) is an 1893 oil painting by Georgios Jakobides, one of the main representatives of the Greek artistic movement of the Munich School.
Due to the historical affinity between Bavaria and Greece—Prince Otto I was from 1832 to 1862 the first King of Greece—many Greek artists were trained in Munich.
He may also have acquired some knowledge of contemporary German painting, the Munich School, which seems to have influenced his style.
Albrecht Christoph Wilhelm von Diez (17 January 1839, Bayreuth - 25 February 1907, Munich) was a German painter and illustrator of the Munich School.
