The Kongamato ("breaker of boats") is a reported pterosaur-like creature said to have been seen by the people of and explorers in the Mwinilunga district's Jiundu swamps of Western Zambia, Angola and Congo.
The Chilunda-speaking Kanongesha-Lunda people are the largest ethnic group, and are related to the Chibemba-speaking Kazembe-Lunda of Luapula Province.
It is located on the road between Luan, the capital of Moxico Province and Mwinilunga, Zambia.

Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and moist savanna, especially Zambia, Mwinilunga District, Ikelenge Pedicle between the Sakeji and Zambezi rivers, approximately 11 km NNE of source of Zambezi River, Kavunda, 11°17'S, 24°21'E, 1,388 m.
