Broadcast from studios in the Blue Fin Building in South Bank, London, also home to IPC Media, NME Radio was launched on 24 June 2008 with its first track being "Knights of Cydonia" by British rock band Muse.
This was a similar arrangement to its radio station, NME Radio, which is operated by Town and Country Broadcasting.
The station was once again managed by final year students – in 2005 Jade Orsmond, Alan Pilkington, Cyrella McGreevy, Jessica Jackson and Dan Prior (now at NME Radio).

Nick Luscombe is a British radio DJ, having presented various self-selected new music shows since 1999 for the likes of XFM, BBC 6 Music, BBC World Service, Tokyo FM, NME Radio, Samurai FM and Resonance FM.
The single was scheduled for release in October through their management's label East City Records, however despite being named BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe's 'Hottest Record in the World' and gaining radio play on stations including BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC 6Music, XFM and NME Radio, the single was cancelled due to a copyright issue regarding the chorus lyrics from the song "Dream a Little Dream of Me".
Bridge FM, Nation Radio and NME Radio originate from the company's main headquarters in Cardiff, while Radio Pembrokeshire, Radio Carmarthenshire, Radio Ceredigion, Nation Hits! and Scarlet FM are broadcast from Narberth.
