5 unusual facts about Nautor's Swan


1973–74 Whitbread Round the World Race

The crew of the Mexican yacht Sayula II, a brand new Swan 65 owned and skippered by mexican Captain Ramón Carlin, successfully won the overall race in 133 days and 13 hours.

Nautor's Swan

The highlight of the racing calendar for Swan owners is the biennial "Rolex Swan Cup", held in Porto Cervo, Sardinia in association with the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, which traditionally embodies "The Spirit of Swan" in its glamour and quality of sailing.

The tie with Sparkman & Stephens was broken, and between 1978 and 1981 Ron Holland started his cooperation with Nautor's Swan, designing five models of which 283 yachts were sold.

This led to commissions for the 80-foot Maxi Class yachts Kialoa and Condor and for a series of designs for Finnish yachtbuilder Nautor's series of Swan yachts between 1979 and 1990.
