During this tour the aircrew visited Alan Rawlinson at his home at Naracoorte, South Australia, and later conducted a flyover of the town in his honour.

No air attacks were conducted against Thailand, however, and the unidentified aircraft that were intercepted almost always proved to be from the Central Intelligence Agency-controlled Air America.

Wooloomanata Station

In 1943, the Royal Australian Air Force hired the homestead as a pilots' and officers' mess while No. 79 Squadron RAAF (RAAF) was forming-up with Supermarine Spitfires at Wooloomanata Aerodrome which had been constructed at the property.


No. 93 Squadron RAAF

On 5 March three No. 93 Squadron Beaufighters departed Oakey to escort No. 79 Squadron Spitfires to Morotai.
