Bleak House, formerly known as Fort House, is a large house on the cliff overlooking the North Foreland and Viking Bay in Broadstairs, Kent.
In 1636, Meldrum was granted by letters-patent from the king licence to continue and renew the lighthouses erected by Charles I on the North and South Forelands.
However, in the summer of 2003, a year after Gordonstoun had bought North Foreland Lodge for £1 million, the school was closed, and in January 2004 the school's site was sold to the Varkeys group for £6 million, leading to allegations of asset stripping.
