Massey Brothers Ltd

Building and construction work ceased in 1962 after the completion of some new houses but PSV bodybuilding continued until 1967 when they were taken over by another Wigan bodybuilder - Northern Counties Motor and Engineering Company

Northern Counties Motor and Engineering Company

In 1975 the company collaborated with Foden Ltd, a well-known manufacturer of commercial vehicles, to produce a semi-integral double-deck vehicle intended to compete with chassis manufacturer Leyland.


East Kent Road Car Company

Later when MCW ceased production the Company turned to once again to Leyland for new buses, these being Olympians with Northern Counties bodywork.

Leyland Panther Cub

Bodies on the Panther Cub were by East Lancashire Coachbuilders (6), Park Royal (24), Marshall (40), Massey (2), Metro-Cammell (14), Northern Counties (2) and Strachan (6), Wigan’s two had the only Massey B45D bodies and were registered DJP468E and EEK1F.

MASS Engineering

The Company also owns 12 Scania N113DRB deckers with Northern Counties bodywork and four further ex-Hong Kong 11m Leyland Olympian/Alexanders with air-conditioning as replacements for its fleet of Leyland Titans.
