The society was founded on 22 May 1969, and is based at Bryn Station in Oslo, but with local groups all over the country.
However, engine no. 271 was preserved by the Norwegian Railway Club, and has been used by their department Norsk Museumstog for heritage trains on lines like Raumabanen.
