Larvae, typically xylophagous, bore under the bark of Coigue (Nothofagus dombeyi, Nothofagaceae), the vicariant of beech in the southern hemisphere.
Broadleaf temperate evergreen forests include those in which Fagaceae such as oaks are common, those in which Nothofagaceae predominate, and the Eucalyptus forests of the Southern Hemisphere.
Caterpillars of Declana from New Zealand, also tentatively placed in the Nacophorini, have been found on Myrtaceae (eucalyptus, Kunzea and Leptospermum), Pinaceae – larches (Larix), pines (Pinus, notably Monterey Pine, P. radiata) and Coast Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) –, and southern beeches (Nothofagaceae).
