Akenzua II

In 1936, Oba Akenzua began the movement to return to Nigeria the Benin Bronzes stolen in the punitive Benin Expedition of 1897.

Antoine Ndinga Oba

On the Banks of the Alima (its title is a reference to the Alima River; Ndinga Oba was born near the Alima) is a philosophical story that takes the form of a dialogue between a father and daughter; it focuses on the need to maintain a connection to the past and preserve cultural heritage, while at the same time looking outward towards the world and embracing a positive form of globalization.

Benin’s other important ritual festivals include Ague, where the first budded yams are blessed in hopes of a successful harvest; Ugie Ivie, the Festival of Beads, in which the oba’s coral and red stone regalia is bathed in cow’s blood to reinvest it with spiritual force; Ugie Erha Oba, which honors the oba’s father and all paternal ancestors; Oduduwa, a masquerade that likewise honors the oba’s paternal ancestors; and Ugie Oro, celebrating Oba Esigie’s victory over the Idah Kingdom in the 16th century.

Chinyere Ike Nwosu

As governor of Oyo State, he upset the power balance of the traditional rulers by making the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, permanent chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas.

Eyo festival

The first procession in Lagos was on the 20th of February, 1854, to commemorate the life of the Oba Akintoye.

Ife

The present ruler is Alayeluwa Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Olubuse II, styled His Imperial Majesty by his subjects.

Igodomigodo

The ogiso era would be replaced by the 'oba' era and the name Igodomigodo changed to Edo by Oba Eweka I (see Oba of Benin).

Izumi-ku, Yokohama

In the Heian period, it was divided between shōen controlled by the Ōba clan and the Kamakura clan (of which Kamakura Gongorō Kagemasa was the most illustrious member).

Kabaka Oba

Oba was interred on Monday, April 24, 2006, in a plot at the Crown Hill Memorial Park in Colerain Township next to Roger Owensby, Jr., a black man who died while in Cincinnati police custody in 2000, in accordance with the wishes of Owensby's father.

Oba of Lagos

Among other ceremonial roles, the Oba also plays a central part in the Eyo festival as well as indulging in tourism advertisements on behalf of the city, often stating, "you've gotta go to Lagos".

The Olowu of Owu, Oba (King) Dr. Olusanya Adegboyega Dosunmu II (Amuroro Ruling House) ended the conferment of Ogboni traditional titles in Owu Abeokuta because the Ogboni culture is alien to Owu culture.

Queen mother

A good example is Oloye Erelu Kuti of Lagos, who has been seen as the iya oba or queen mother of every succeeding king of that realm, due to the activities of the three successors to her noble title that have reigned since her demise.

Serge Blanchard Oba

According to Oba, his party spent more than one billion CFA francs on its 2007 election campaign.

In a March 2008 interview with Jeune Afrique, Sassou Nguesso said that there was no relationship between the two events and noted that he had still had Oba's support, despite the latter's unwillingness to participate in the new grouping.

Victor Omololu Olunloyo

Other positions included Commissioner for Community Development, Education (twice), Special Duties, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs which includes crowning of two of Nigeria's monarchs namely the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III and the Soun of Ogbomosho King Oyewunmi.
