While his best known composition is the 1975 theme to "Close to Home", a New Zealand soap opera, his music as been performed by Lontano, the Kronos Quartet (on Early Music (Lachrymae Antiquae)), ARC, the New Zealand String Quartet, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
Three of his works have been shortlisted by the spnm: Tranced Summer-Night, Tranced and Calendar of Tolerable Inventions from Around the World, which was performed by Lontano in 2002, and was subsequently broadcast by BBC Radio 3.
Savaskan's music has been programmed widely by organisations and ensembles such as the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Arts, London) - in particular its fine 'MusICA' series run for many years by Adrian Jack, the BBC, Lontano, the Balanescu Quartet, the Smith Quartet, the S.E.M. Ensemble of New York, and such conductors as Martyn Brabbins, Zsolt Nagy and Petr Kotik.
