The type species, Neviusia alabamensis, occurs in several southeastern states, while second extant species, Neviusia cliftonii, is endemic to the Mt Shasta region of California, and the extinct species Neviusia dunthornei is found in shale deposits in the Okanagan Highlands of Washington and British Columbia.
The Okanagan Highland is the source of several rivers in addition to the Kettle and West Kettle, including the Sanpoil River.
The paleorange for the family includes sites in western North America such as the Florrisant formation in Colorado and the Okanagan Highland sites in Washington, USA and British Columbia, Canada.
Specimens from British Columbia and Washington state are found in a series of Eocene Lakes in the Okanagan Highlands region in association with several extinct Trochodendron species.
