Olympiacos–A.E.K. rivalry

A.E.K. comes from Nea Filadelfeia, a suburb of Athens, while Olympiacos from the port of Athens, Piraeus.


1979–80 Greek Cup

Kastoria success was decisive for some of their players' careers, as Sarganis, Simeoforidis, Papavasiliou and Dintsikos were later acquired by Olympiacos, Panathinaikos and AEK Athens.

Dimitrios Eleftheropoulos

He was the young third goalkeeper in 1997's Olympiacos roster behind Foto Strakosha and Alekos Rantos but injuries and bad games from the previous two made coach Dusan Bajevic to give him a chance.

Lefteris Gialousis

In the 2007–08 season, Gialousis was forced to wait patiently for his first chance to play, which finally came in Week 21 – Gialousis made his Super League debut on 16 February 2008, playing all 90 minutes in a 1–0 loss to Greek champions Olympiacos at Karaiskakis Stadium.

Michalis Kritikopoulos

In 2002, Kritikopoulos died from cardiac arrest while playing in a friendly match for Olympiacos' veterans in Andros.

Neil Mellor

Mellor also scored a vital goal and set up another during Liverpool's match with Olympiacos at Anfield during the group stage of the 2004–05 UEFA Champions League, which Liverpool went on to win.

Olympiacos F.C. in European football

Olympiacos opened the second round of the group stage with a draw 0–0 to Real Madrid at the Karaiskakis Stadium and kept alive the record of being undefeated by Real Madrid in Athens in four matches, while the Reds moved a step closer to qualifying for the last 16 after coming from behind to defeat Lazio 2–1 in Stadio Olimpico.

P.A.O.K.

The rivalry started in the 1960s when Olympiacos tried, and failed, to sign Giorgos Koudas, one of the best players of his time, from P.A.O.K., through direct negotiations with the player.

He changed his mind and signed with Doxa Drama, on loan from Olympiakos, and consequently he lost his place in the Greece, and he regained it years after in 2007 when he returned to Olympiacos from Skoda Xanthi.

Siniša Gogić

Siniša Gogić (Serbian Cyrillic: Синиша Гогић; Greek alphabet: Σίνισα Γκόγκιτς, born October 20, 1963) is a former Serbian-born Cypriot football striker who played for Yugoslav clubs Radnički Niš and FK Rad, for the Greek football team Olympiacos (1997–2000), the Cypriot teams APOEL, Anorthosis Famagusta and Olympiakos Nicosia and Cyprus national football team.

The result, which Olympiacos would have passed in semi finals for first time, remained like that until 85th minute, when Antonio Conte equalized for Juventus and Olympiacos was eliminated.

Tasos Mitropoulos

After retiring in 1998, Mitropoulos became an assistant coach to Dusan Bajevic, Alberto Bigon, Yannis Matzourakis and Takis Lemonis in Olympiacos.
