Intel Macs employ a different Intel technology for firmware, Extensible Firmware Interface, not the Open Firmware Apple had been using.
Alternatively, New World Macs can be started with the Command (⌘), Option (⌥), O and F keys pressed to enter the Open Firmware prompt.
It was designed to run mainly on x86-based computers, but ports for ARM and PowerPC microprocessor architectures are under development (alpha versions for ARM7 TDMI core and PowerPC Open Firmware based architectures are available).
