The reverse has a red enameled medallion with, in gold, the letters PRL, standing for Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa - People's Republic of Poland (orders awarded before the state's name changed in 1952 have the letters RP for Rzeczpospolita Polska).
Kulczyński was awarded the Order of the Builders of People's Poland (1964), the Order of the Banner of Labour 1st class and the Grand Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.

He came from a family which supposedly belonged to the former Polish petty nobility (drobna szlachta), bearing the Rola coat-of-arms and living in the Prussian part of today's Poland.
