Akwa Ibom Airport is an airport in Oron serving Uyo, the capital city of the Akwa Ibom state in Nigeria and other neighbouring towns in the state, including Eket, Ikot Ekpene and Oron.
An oil refinery is currently under construction in the outskirts of the city along the Oron road.
The aim of the LFB was to connect the French-speaking part of western Switzerland with the German-speaking part of central Switzerland with a line from Lausanne to Bern via Oron and Fribourg.

The municipality was part of the Lavaux District until it was dissolved on 31 August 2006, and Chexbres became part of the new district of Lavaux-Oron.
