The authoritative Corriere della Sera critic and musicologist Paolo Isotta wrote of Nicolosi on the occasion of the recent recording of two rare concerts of Paisiello: (...) listening to him playing is enough to remind us that no one today can match his luminosity of sound, his ability to draw out the song-like legato qualities of a keyboard instrument ... he has acquired a reputation as one of our greatest living pianists ...
In 1803, both Le Sueur and Rey were called by Napoleon to join his chapel: Le Sueur replaced Paisiello as director, while Rey was named first conductor, with Persuis as his assistant.
A pasticcio with the same title, with some music by Bianchi as well as Paisiello, Guglielmi, Giacomo Gotifredo Ferrari, Sarti and Soler was performed at Théâtre Feydeau in Paris on 5 June 1789.
Later in the score Paulli utilised Chopin's Grande valse brillante in E-flat major and Paisiello's aria "Nel cor più non mi sento" from the opera La Molinara.
Other composers who wrote variations based on Paisiello's work include Johann Nepomuk Hummel, Giovanni Bottesini (for double bass), Johann Baptist Wanhal, and notably, Paganini ("Introduction and variations in G major" for violin, Op. 38, MS 44, 1827).
In 1955, he inaugurated the Piccola Scala, where he conducted several revivals of 18th century works by composers such as Piccinni, Paisiello, Cimarosa, etc.
