Cowling began working with Pat Travers in 1975, and was able to achieve a respectable amount of success during his long relationship with Travers.
Travers has lived in central Florida for several years, and is now married with two children.

An appearance on the German TV show Rockpalast in November 1976 was later released on DVD under the title Hooked On Music.

Shortly after, Travers signed a deal with American-based Blues Bureau International Records, a company formed by noted producer Mike Varney.

After Hot Shots release in 1984, Polydor made plans to issue a greatest hits package, and then ended their relationship with Travers.

According to band member Jeff Severson, the Doctors toured with Hall & Oates, Ritchie Blackmore, and Pat Travers, and opened for The Clash, The Cars, Cyndi Lauper, Steppenwolf, Jim Carroll, and others.
Blackstar has several artists using their products, including Opeth, Razorlight, The Donots, Rose Tattoo, Pat Travers and Silenoz of Dimmu Borgir, as well as recently including Gus G of Firewind and Ozzy to their lineup .
