The district consists 2 sub-divisions, Barwani and Sendhwa which are further divided into 8 tahsils, Barwani, Sendhwa, Pansemal, Niwali, Thikari, Pati, Anjad and Rajpur and 7 developmental blocks, Barwani, Pati, Sendhawa, Pansemal, Niwali, Thikari and Rajpur.
